Field report: Urs Brunner and HOSS R1
For several years, a Genny 2.0 Urban was his everyday and proven means of transport, giving him high mobility and great freedom. When the hull stability and thus the steering of the vehicle became increasingly difficult and finally impossible, Urs Brunner had to look for a suitable alternative. Ideally, the vehicle should also be as compact as possible, extremely manoeuvrable and allow a lot of freedom. And it should not look like a typical handicapped vehicle. Urs Brunner found what he was looking for and decided on the HOSS R1 with joystick control, which he has been driving since summer 2021. To this day, he does not regret his decision.
Natural paths, narrow tracks, slopes, gravel roads - the vehicle can be steered even on difficult terrain. And if it really pours down, the large umbrella helps to keep Urs Brunner and his vehicle dry. Thanks to the sensitive joystick control, one hand is always free to carry a bag or quickly tighten the umbrella. Always an important criterion for suitability for everyday use is the steering and safe behaviour in the shop. Leaning forward and taking a package from the shelf goes absolutely smoothly. The vehicle recognises that the driver is leaning forward without using the joystick and corrects the position in a flash so that the vehicle moves only slightly.

He can also control the device in his flat without any problems. It overcomes the step between the flat and the terrace without difficulty, so that Urs Brunner can also visit his garden with the vehicle. Thanks to the very compact dimensions, he can turn around in the property's narrow lift without any restrictions.
The cellar and the offset entrance can thus be reached without any problems. The vehicle even manages the curved driveway with a rether steep incline from the house to the access road as a matter of course without losing speed.

After the dryer and warmer summer days returned, Urs Brunner has been using the vehicle outside a lot. He drives the routes he is familiar with, just like before, but now with the HOSS R1. He describes the joystick controls as very successful and the driving pleasure has not suffered at all. He even sometimes has to explain to others why he is driving a vehicle, as his disability is not obvious and the HOSS is not recognisable as a vehicle for the disabled.
The modern yet simple design is captivating due to the wooden armrests, which are also comfortable for resting the arms. The visual appearance was a major criterion in the selection of the HOSS R1 as the new wheelchair. We would like to thank Urs Brunner for sharing his experiences and impressions of the HOSS R1 and wish him continued fun and success with his new vehicle, which will accompany him for a long time to come. |
